The post-Brexit problem, in one paragraph

A stand built in a UK workshop and driven to Frankfurt is, to customs, a shipment of goods leaving one customs territory and entering another. That means export and import declarations, temporary-admission paperwork such as an ATA carnet or a customs guarantee for everything that comes back, duty and VAT exposure for anything that stays (graphics, giveaways, consumed materials), a broker on each side, and a truck that can be held at a port on the wrong day. None of this is impossible. All of it is time, money and risk that did not exist in 2019 — and your client does not want to hear about any of it.

The simple fix: build where the show is

People Can Build is a general contractor for exhibition stands based in Poznań, Poland — inside the EU customs union, a few hours' drive from the German border. A stand we fabricate for your client at Messe München, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Amsterdam or Paris moves as intra-EU freight: no carnet, no customs broker, no border. Your client's own products still travel under their own paperwork, and we help you plan that too — but the stand itself stops being a customs problem.

White-label, in writing

We build what UK agencies design and sell. No People Can logos in front of your client, NDAs and non-circumvention clauses as standard practice, and a strict non-compete policy we have kept for as long as we have been in business. Your client is your client — at the venue, in the paperwork, and after the show. Agencies also use us at pitch stage: send a concept render and we return a free buildability review and an indicative budget you can quote with confidence.

Venue know-how you can lean on

Sixteen years of building on German fairgrounds mean the technical regulations hold no surprises: B1 fire-rated materials, statics sign-offs, rigging rules, night-work permits, the exact paperwork each venue's inspection expects — down to hall-level details like low ceilings, columns in the floor plan, gate sizes and floor loading. We flag them at design stage, not in build-up week. Public references include the 342 sqm Digital Dubai pavilion and the UAE Ministry of Economy stands at GITEX Europe in Berlin, HiTHIUM, HyperStrong and SUNSHARE at Intersolar in Munich, and the Uzbekistan pavilion at Heimtextil in Frankfurt. We know your side of the Channel too: PAX Technology's 48 sqm stand at the Retail Technology Show, ExCeL London, was ours.

How the collaboration runs

  1. Brief or design pack — floor plan, hall, dates, your design or concept, budget range.
  2. Buildability review and itemized quote — in EUR, usually within days; venue constraints flagged upfront.
  3. Technical drawings and venue paperwork — submitted under your agency's name where required.
  4. Fabrication in Poland, delivery as EU freight — quality-checked before loading, truck slot at the venue gate.
  5. Build, handover, show support, dismantling — our site manager on the stand, your PM in the loop, storage of reusable elements between shows.

Polish pricing, German standards, real flexibility

Our cost base is Polish; our build standard is what a German contractor would deliver; and our crews absorb late design changes, night shifts and weekend work as part of the plan rather than as a change-order negotiation. Quotes are itemized — what's in the offer is what stands in the hall.

Questions UK agencies ask us

Why should a UK agency build its EU exhibition stands with an EU-based contractor?

Since Brexit, stand materials shipped from the UK to an EU show need export and import customs declarations, and temporary admission typically means an ATA carnet or a customs guarantee. A stand fabricated inside the EU and delivered to Messe München, Berlin, Frankfurt or Amsterdam never crosses a customs border, so there is no carnet, no broker and no risk of the stand sitting at a port while the show opens.

Does People Can Build work white-label for UK agencies?

Yes. White-label is our default: no People Can branding in front of your client, NDAs and non-circumvention as standard, and a strict non-compete policy we have kept for as long as we have been in business. You sell and design; we fabricate, ship, build and dismantle under your name.

Which venues in Europe do you build at?

Most of our projects are on German fairgrounds: Messe München, Messe Berlin, Messe Düsseldorf, Messe Frankfurt, Hamburg and Hannover. We have also delivered in Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Vienna, Zurich, Copenhagen and, in the UK, at ExCeL London (PAX Technology, Retail Technology Show, 48 sqm).

How do you work with a UK agency day to day?

In English, one project manager per project, one hour ahead of London time. You send the design pack or a concept render; we return a buildability review and an itemized quote in EUR, usually within days. Site management, venue paperwork and the on-site crew are ours; the client relationship stays yours.

Can you also design the stand?

If your agency prefers to keep design in-house, we build what you design. If you need a 3D design, we offer it as a paid service priced per square meter (5–15 €/sqm), refunded in full when the stand is built with us.
